Paris... C. de Chartres

On Sunday 1/13 the Wellesley group went to visit la Cathedrale de Chartres. It was just a really really big cathedral up on a hill that was very beautiful. lol. We had a VERY (if not too) knowledgeable guide who explained the history of the cathedral and the meaning of the stained glasses to us for 3 hours+.

By the end, I was just really cold and tired and not in a very good mood. I also wore my cute "church" shoes, thinking "oh, how bad could visiting a cathedral be?"...yeah, BAD IDEA. My toes were about to fall off after standing/walking in the cold for 3 hours. Not sure if I will EVER do that again. lol. But it was an amazingly beautiful church and I am glad that we got to go! It was about an hour away from Paris. I think. lol.

We got there around noon and first had lunch at a very cute french restaurant called L'Estocade. The food was pretty good too. I also loved how Mme. Gillain killed like a bottle of wine alone. It was pretty amazing. I also had a really good conversation with Mme. Gillain about movies :) Loved it! I should take a picture of her soon and upload it here. She has the most adorable dog names Theo too!

After lunch, we had to "hike" up a little hill to get to the Cathedral. It was such a cute little village. When I think Europe, this is what I picture in my head (but a bit more colorful and better weather!):

The Cathedral was really pretty. The out side looked like this:

The inside could use better lighting, but the stained glasses were so beautiful!

The interior of the church reminded me a lot of the National Cathedral in DC..(beautiful place by the way, so you should go visit some day :D) Probably because they're both Gothic style churches..hehe (duhhhh -_-;;;)

And as I was leaving the Cathedral around 5 pm, I took this BEAUTIFUL shot of it. Soooo pertty! (and my awesome photography skills *wink wink*)

I wish I could write more about this day trip, but I'm having a hard time uploading pictures and typing. So this is it for today :)

All I remember from this trip was how my toes hurt and how it was so cold and how I was super sleepy. Taking the last picture at the end of the day (and being able to see that in person) was kind of worth it though :)
